BAGHDAD, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi confirmed Iraq's support for the steps of the Palestinian brothers to achieve full rights.
"The Palestinian cause will remain our central cause for the restoration of the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital," Abdul Mahdi said at a joint news conference with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
He added, "We support the Palestinians' steps to fully achieve their rights.
Abdul Mahdi stressed the important role with our brothers to achieve the Palestinian aspirations towards achieving their goals.
For his part, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said: We are pleased to be in Baghdad, the country dear to the hearts of Palestinians and congratulate you on the victory over terrorism, you have maintained the unity and stability of Iraq and your success in holding elections and presidencies elections a great success for the leaders and the people in all components. Abbas added, "we briefed the developments on the Palestinian cause from the defense of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctuaries, and what the AlAqsa Mosque is subjected to attacks and criminal practices against the Palestinian people and the seizure of the people's money, especially the families of martyrs and prisoners."
Abbas said: "The occupiers will encourage the United States of America to support the occupier and cut aid and other punitive steps against the Palestinian people."
