BAGHDAD, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged to eliminate elements of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq in Kandil and Sinjar regions.
"These terrorists will know that they will pay at least 800 times for the loss of eight of our martyrs," Erdogan was quoted as saying in a speech to a consultative meeting of the Justice and Development Party on Saturday.
"They are now looking for hideouts everywhere to hide. We will destroy them all by storming them," he said. "We will kill them in Qandil and Sinjar and pursue them without stopping."
"The terrorists will not be able to target the security and peace of the Turkish people," Erdogan said.
On Thursday, the Turkish armed forces launched a large-scale operation in the area to arrest those involved in the killing of the eight soldiers.
Turkey regards the PKK as a terrorist organization and a terrorist organization inside and outside the country for three decades.
On March 10, Turkey launched a military operation in northern Iraq aimed at destroying the PKK camps and introducing units of its ground forces into the country, operating in conjunction with air raids by Turkish warplanes for years.
