BAGHDAD, Head of the National Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, stressed the importance of ending the political debates and keeping the government away from the interests of the public interest.
"In the coming stage, Iraq needs a strong and capable government that can meet the aspirations of the Iraqi people according to the terms set by the religious authority for its success," he said during a meeting with the US Envoy to the International Coalition against Terrorism.
He added that "the chances of the national majority project are imminent and clearer than before, especially as we approach the ratification of the Federal Court on the results of the elections," stressing the importance of ending political debates and the removal of the government from the private interest.
Regarding the US sanctions against Iran, al-Hakim reiterated his rejection of the policy of starving peoples, reiterating his call for dialogue so that the region and its people can enjoy their benefits. He called for: "taking into account the special circumstances of Iraq and its relationship with neighboring countries and the region, especially the relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran."
