Aoun to US General Votel: Lebanon rejects any attack on its territories

President Michel Aoun on Friday held talks with the Commander of the United States Central Command, General Joseph Votel, to whom he maintained that Lebanon would not accept any attack on its territories.

"Israel is carrying on its land and maritime violations, especially along the southern borders," Aoun said to his guest, adding that contacts to end the breaches shall resume next month through the tripartite committee.

"Lebanon will not be a hostile country, but it rejects any attack on its lands," he stressed.

Aoun did not fail to thank Votel for the US contribution to Rome II conference, devoted to supporting the Lebanese security and military forces.

For his turn, the US General renewed his country's support for the Lebanese Armed Forces, highlighting the necessity to bolster the bilateral cooperation between the two sides.

The President and his guest also discussed the current military situation in the region.

The meeting was attended by US Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard and an accompanying delegation.
