Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday presided over the meeting of the high-level steering committee of the US-British Assistance Program for the protection of the Lebanese land borders, in Yarzeh, in presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon, Elizabeth Richard, and UK Ambassador to Lebanon, Chris Rampling, along with US and British Military Attaches and members of the joint work team.
The meeting assessed the already accomplished steps in this regard, and the subsequent actions to be implemented as part of the program in light of the needs of the military.
General Aoun thanked the US and British authorities for continuing to implement the special assistance program to equip land border regiments, heaping praise on their steady keenness to support the army in the various fields.
Richard and Rampling lauded the significant performance and achievements of the military in controlling the Lebanese border, and confirmed their countries' continued support for the army to carry out its tasks in defense of Lebanon and in preservation of its security, stability and territorial integrity.
