Assistant Foreign Minister chairs committee’s meeting

The National Committee on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction convened its first meeting after its restructure.

The meeting, which was held virtually, was chaired by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, with the participation of committee members representing ministries and government agencies, including the Ministry of Interior, Bahrain Defense Force, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Ministry of Communications, Supreme Council for Environment, National Oil and Gas Authority, Electricity and Water Authority and the University of Bahrain.

Assistant Foreign Minister and Committee Chairman conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and his appreciation of the efforts exerted by the members and their government agencies in supporting the work of the National Committee, congratulating the members on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

He also congratulated them for being selected as members of the National Committee, stressing the committee’s vision, which is to affirm the steadfast policy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting efforts aimed at the disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.

He noted that the committee’s mission aims to promote national and international cooperation with the competent authorities to limit the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.

During the meeting, the National Committee discussed the topics on the agenda, where an introductory overview was presented about the committee and the significant role that the Kingdom of Bahrain has played in implementing the international obligations stipulated in international conventions and treaties.

In conclusion, the Assistant Foreign Minister thanked the members for their commitment and efforts, wishing them further success in the service of the country.
