Bahrain participates in 5th session of ICYSM

Jeddah, Minister of Youth and Sport Affairs, Aymen bin Tawfeeq Al-Moayyed, took part in the 5th session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYSM), which was held in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the chairmanship of Saudi Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, in the presence of ministers of youth and sports from the Islamic member states and the delegations of participating countries.

The inaugural session began with a speech by the President of the fourth session, the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farid Gayibov. Then, a speech was given by the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hussain Ibrahim Taha. After that, a ceremony was held for handing over the session from Azerbaijan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Then, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal delivered a speech in which he welcomed the guests of the kingdom, pointing to the importance of holding this meeting to chart a roadmap and the future for the youth of the Islamic nation.

The meeting came out with a number of decisions, most notably attaching an importance to the youth and sport issues by the member states, implementing the organisation’s strategy for the youth and an action plan for developing sports, urging the member states to work out mechanisms for coordination with the international organisations and institutions working in the field of youth and sports, exchanging information and experiences, urging the involvement of the youth in the development programmes of the member states, and emphasizing the need for the member states to put the youth issues at the center of development projects and programmes.

The Minister of Youth and Sport Affairs commended the organizational procedures taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which enabled the conference to attain its noble goals. He asserted the importance of the conference in promoting joint action to serve the youth and empower them in the Islamic countries. He praised the resolutions reached by the conference which aim to serve the youth and sport movement in the member states.

For her part, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sport Affairs, Sarrah Ishaq, participated in the meeting of senior officials to prepare for the 5th session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers in the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The meeting spotlighted the condition of the youth in the member states of OIC, and the importance attached by the organization and its relevant institutions to developing the youth and sport.
