Bahrain Science Centre for SDGs wins ‘Catalyst 2030’ Award

The Bahrain Scientific Centre for Sustainable Development Goals (BSC for SDGs) at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs has won the Catalyst 2030 Award for Systemic Change 2022.

The BSC’s “Ghaya” initiative won the award in the category of governments that support social entrepreneurship as a means to achieve SDGs.

Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry’s Undersecretary, Sarah Eshaq, received the award during the online ceremony held by “Catalyst 2030”.

The high-profile participants in the online ceremony praised the “Ghaya” initiative and its role in boosting entrepreneurship and creating solutions that contribute to achieving SDGs.

“Catalyst 2030” has launched the award to motivate organisations and institutions to present pioneering global initiatives that contribute to achieving positive change in their countries and accelerating the development of ideas into collaborative systems and solutions.

The “Ghaya” initiative is a social entrepreneurship and innovation system that supports the social innovation community in the Kingdom and spreads the culture of cooperation between society and local actors from all public and private sectors to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and enhancing community participation.

The initiative brings together social entrepreneurs, innovators, scholars, academics and change-makers who all share one goal: to create an inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial community that drives social and environmental solutions that benefit all communities in the Kingdom.

The Bahrain Science Centre for SDGs has launched a number of initiatives and programmes under the “Ghaya” system related to social innovation with the aim of raising awareness, building a culture of social entrepreneurship and stimulating innovation in the Kingdom.
