Bahrain’s keenness on promoting human rights praised

Chairman of the Human Rights Committee and member of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee at the Council of Representatives, MP Ammar Ahmed Al-Bannai praised Bahrain’s civilizational achievement in maintaining its top tier ranking, for the fifth consecutive year, in recognition of its dedicated efforts to combat human trafficking.

The US State Department’s 2022 report on Trafficking in Persons (TIP) has placed the Kingdom of Bahrain in Tier 1 status.

Al-Bannai affirmed that the achievement is the dividend of the comprehensive development project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa who is always stressing the importance of guaranteeing human rights as a national strategy for the Kingdom of Bahrain to promote the state of institutions and law. He added that the National Action Charter, the constitution of 2002 and the constitutional amendments approved by the legislative branch have ensured more respect for human rights.

He also noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain has always been keen on boosting the legal and institutional environment and enforcing laws to protect human rights and combat human trafficking. He asserted that the kingdom’s tremendous efforts to promote human rights and fight human trafficking are a clear evidence of the importance given to human beings in the community.
