National Defense Minister, Elias Bou Saab, on Thursday welcomed in his office at the Ministry the United Nations Political Affairs Under-Secretary-General, Rosemary DiCarlo, in presence of UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jan Kubis, UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col, and an accompanying delegation.
Talks reportedly touched on the general situation in Lebanon and the broad region, especially the military operation carried out by Turkey against the Kurds on the Syrian-Turkish border, and the possible repercussions of this attack on Lebanon as it hosts a large number of displaced Syrians.
Discussions also touched on the recent Israeli enemy's two drones' attack on Beirut's southern suburbs, as it is the most serious breach of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 since 2006.
Minister Bou Saab stressed that Lebanon has never attacked Israel and has no intention of waging war against any party, but it reserves its right to defend itself in the case of any aggression against its territories.
Bou Saab also indicated that resolving the issue of the demarcation of land and sea borders leaves positive impact on the economy.
Bou Saab also hailed UNIFIL's efforts to maintain security and stability in the southern Litani Strip and along the Blue Line.
