BRCS trains volunteers in humanitarian relief work

The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) organized a two-day training course for its volunteers at the Society’s headquarters in the diplomatic area, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, as part of the Society’s plan to train and qualify Bahraini volunteers in various fields of relief and humanitarian work.

Mr. Mubarak Al-Hadi, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, stated that this course falls within the framework of the Society’s desire to continue raising the readiness of volunteers and maintaining their morale by appreciating their achievements and contributions, as well as establishing a culture of volunteering in the community, in addition to finding teams of volunteers to assist them in carrying out the tasks that fall within the framework of BRCS work.

“BRCS is eager to instill in the hearts of volunteers the values and principles of humanitarian work, the spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility, and to increase the readiness of the emergency and crisis team, in collaboration with the authority’s strategic partners in the field of preparedness and contingency planning for emergencies and crisis response.” According to Al-Hadi.

Al-Hadi praised the Bahrain Red Crescent volunteers’ sense of the value of work, particularly work for the community, as well as their self-confidence and self-respect, along with their eagerness to invest their spare time in developing personal expertise and skills and gaining social status in the community.

The training course covered topics such as international humanitarian law, first aid, volunteer process planning, initiative in institutional work, psychological and social support methods for those affected by disasters and crises, volunteering for others, and integrated emergency, crisis, and disaster management.
