The Civil Aviation Affairs has updated Bahrain’s COVID-19 travel-related regulations pursuant to directives issued by the Government Executive Committee after consideration of the recommendations made by the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The regulations will come into effect on 25 June 2021.
Passenger Arriving from or Transiting Red List Countries
Passengers arriving from Red List countries, including passengers who have transited those countries at any point in the last 14 days, are prohibited from entry unless they are a citizen or resident of Bahrain. Countries on the Red List are: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Vietnam.
Passengers eligible for entry are required to present a negative test certificate, featuring a QR code, for a PCR test administered within 48 hours of their departure. Passengers are also required to undergo testing on arrival and on the 10th day of their stay in Bahrain. A 10-day quarantine period is mandatory for passengers arriving from a Red List country. For travelers’ convenience, designated quarantine centres licensed by the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) have been made available. Passengers with an address in Bahrain, registered in their name or in the name of an immediate family member, may complete the 10-day quarantine requirement at their residence. Passengers aged 6 and below are exempt from these requirements.
The above requirements apply regardless of a passenger’s vaccination status.
Passengers Arriving from Non-Red List Countries
Passengers arriving from non-Red List countries must present a negative test certificate, featuring a QR code, for a PCR test administered within 72 hours of their departure. Additionally, all passengers entering the Kingdom of Bahrain are required to undergo PCR testing upon arrival and on their 10th day in Bahrain. For non-vaccinated passengers and passengers without a vaccination certificate recognized by the Government of Bahrain, a mandatory 10-day quarantine period applies. Passengers aged 6 and below are exempt from these requirements.
Under the current regulations, the following exceptions apply to qualifying passengers arriving from non-Red List countries:
1. Fully vaccinated passengers with certificates issued by health authorities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, certificate issued by a country whose vaccination certificate is approved by the Ministry of Health in Bahrain, or countries with which Bahrain has signed mutual recognition agreements are excluded from the pre-departure testing and quarantine requirements. Passengers are nevertheless required to undergo testing on arrival and on the 10th day of their stay in Bahrain.
2 – Fully vaccinated passengers with valid vaccination certificates issued in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Singapore, are excluded from quarantine requirements. Passengers are nevertheless required to undergo testing 72 hours prior to their departure, on arrival, and on the 10th day of their stay in Bahrain.
