President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, today opened, in the presence of Health Minister, Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad, a medical clinic that provides healthcare services to the inmates of the reformation and rehabilitation centres.
The move is within the framework of the kingdom’s ongoing efforts to provide the best healthcare and treatment services for the inmates of the reformation and rehabilitation facilities.
The medical clinic, which is affiliated with the Government Hospitals, provides integrated round-the-clock, high-quality health services to inmates to ensure their health and safety, in accordance with the Law on Reform and Rehabilitation Institution and its executive regulations.
In this regard, the Government Hospitals pledged to provide the beneficiaries with the best health services, according to international standards.
Commenting, Government Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Ansari, lauded the services provided by the Interior Ministry to inmates, noting that the new clinic will provide health service in all medical specialties, in cooperation with primary health care centres, in addition to mental health services.
During the opening ceremony, the delegation toured the clinic’s facilities, and discussed the procedures related to transferring health and treatment services to the clinic for inmates and deportees.
The opening of a clinic for inmates is in line with the visions and policies aimed at unifying the joint efforts and endeavours of the Supreme Council of Health, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, Government Hospitals and Primary Healthcare Centres to achieve the desired goals and preserve national gains by providing all means of high-level healthcare.
The Kingdom has reached advanced positions thanks to its plans, programmes and projects aimed at ensuring the rights of prisoners and convicts, facilitating their access to all health and social services, and putting in place safety measures according to international standards.
These steps embody the extent of the kingdom’s commitment to the safety of inmates in light of its approach and initiatives to strengthen the pillars of the state of institutions and law and consolidate the human rights principles.
