The Council of Representatives has issued the second edition of a guide highlighting lawmakers’ duties and ways of communicating with them.
Titled “Communicating with your Lawmaker”, the guide also compiles the parliamentary activities carried out by each legislator during his term.
The General Secretariat issued the guide following directives from Speaker Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, under the supervision of Secretary-General Chancellor Rashid Mohammed Bounejmah,
The guide details lawmakers’ responsibilities in exercising their duties, including legislation, oversight and representing citizens in their respective constituencies, in addition to their relations with civil society institutions and municipal councilors.
The guide also outlines development of the legislative and oversight tools stipulated in the constitution and national legislations, which are among the mechanisms that enable lawmakers to perform their roles in proposing laws and submitting queries.
