Deal signed to train 5 UNRWA doctors in family medicine

The Hashemite University (HU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) on Wednesday to train UNRWA doctors and improve health care service quality for Palestinian refugees. The MoU, signed by Director of UNRWA in Jordan Olaf Baker and HU's Vice President Khaled Abu-Elteen, stipulates that the HU provides a one-year training course for five UNRWA doctors, granting them a diploma in primary health care in family medicine. Granting the diploma will also help improve medical capacities in UNRWA's health sector. Baker expressed his great pleasure in the partnership with the HU, which seeks to provide qualitative academic medical training that goes hand-in-hand with UNRWA's goals in providing Palestinian refugees with comprehensive services that include education, health care, relief aid, social services, refugee camp infrastructure, and small project financing. Abu-Elteen praised UNRWA's efforts in Jordan, underscoring the global agency's role in building medical capacities and exchanging experiences.
