Education Minister chairs HEC board of trustees’ meeting

The Higher Education Council (HEC) Board of Trustees today held a meeting at the Ministry of Education in the present of members, advisors and invitees.

Education Minister, HEC Board of Trustees’ Chairman, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma chaired the session, extending thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on the issuance of a royal decree restructuring the council.

Dr. Juma stressed the importance of coordination with relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labour, the Higher Education Council, the Education and Training Quality Authority, the Civil Service Bureau and the private sector to align academic programmes with the labour market requirements.

The council revewed the annual report 2022, including the decrees, legislations, and edicts issued during the year, as well as the efforts made in the field of aligning the goals of the higher education sector with government priorities, and the achievements of higher education during the year 2022.

The council reviewed the requests of a number of private higher education institutions to develop new academic programs at the level of the first university degree as well as postgraduate studies.

It also decided to postpone the decision on these requests until the completion of the preparation of the study related to the programs and specializations offered in higher education institutions to ensure their compatibility in the labor market.
