Electricity Minister receives APM Terminals scholarship recipients

Electricity and Water Affairs Minister and Board of Trustees Chairman of the Bahrain Polytechnic, Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, and Bahrain Polytechnic Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, today received three college graduates who were awarded scholarships from APM Terminals, which is a leading seaport operator, to study at the UK’s South Shields Marine School for three years.

The minister congratulated the winning students who graduated from the Bachelor of International Logistics Management programme, namely: Osama Debwan, Omar Wahdan and Mashael Khalaf, who were nominated for the scholarship out of more than 130 applications for the scholarship programme.

Minister Al-Mubarak also congratulated international logistics management graduate, Mashael Khalaf, who is among the first Bahraini women who started their careers to work in the marine command.

He affirmed that the scholarship is a great opportunity for candidates to develop their skills in the field of logistics, as it will contribute to supporting and developing the logistics sector in Bahrain and achieving Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

The scholarship recipients expressed their appreciation to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for his kind gesture, stressing that winning this scholarship is a great opportunity to hone their skills in the marine field.

They expressed hope that they will be among the competencies and future leaders in the maritime sector in the Kingdom.
