Foreign Minister: A government effort to prepare for early elections next year

Baghdad  Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein said, “there is a government effort to prepare for early elections in the sixth month of next year.”

During his meeting with his Omani counterpart, Badr Al-Busaidi, the Minister pointed out that the government is making great efforts to return the remaining displaced persons and to create a safe environment for their return to their areas of residence.”

The Minister briefed his Omani counterpart, according to a Foreign Ministry statement, on the latest developments in Iraq, including the security situation, explaining that the security situation in Iraq is improving compared to the previous one, and he also discussed files including ISIS families, pockets of terrorism, and Al-Hol camp.

The Minister expressed Iraq’s aspiration to activate the frameworks for cooperation with Oman in various fields, and this is in light of the distinguished relations between the two countries. ”

He also addressed the Corona pandemic, its health and economic challenges, and the improvement of the global situation with the discovery of the vaccine. This led to a recovery in oil prices. ”

The meeting stressed the importance of advancing bilateral relations in a way that achieves the interests of both countries.

The two sides discussed regional security challenges and their implications for the situation in Iraq. Hussein called for adopting the principle of dialogue in resolving disputes, in order to end crises in the region.”

For his part, the Omani Minister affirmed the stability of the security situation in the region is based on the existence of normal relations.”
