Manama, Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani met today with the External Affairs Minister of the Republic of India, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, on the sidelines of his official visit to Bahrain.
During the meeting, Dr. Al Zayani commended the close bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of India, which are based on foundations of mutual respect and joint coordination, stressing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s aspiration to enhance bilateral cooperation with the Republic of India in various fields.
He praised the role of the Indian community in the Kingdom of Bahrain and their significant contributions to the development and progress that the Kingdom of Bahrain is witnessing in all sectors, wishing the Republic of India and its friendly people further progress and prosperity.
For his part, the External Affairs Minister of India expressed the sincere condolences of the Indian government on the demise of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, commending his great contributions to strengthening bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation between the two friendly countries and peoples.
He lauded solid bilateral relations existing between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of India and the constant development and progress it has reached at all levels, pointing out the Kingdom’s positions, its regional and international standing, and its efforts to consolidate security, stability and prosperity in the region and promote world peace.
He expressed theIndian Government’s thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the care provided to the Indian community in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which reflects the depth of the bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation between the two friendly countries and peoples.
He also highlighted the care extended by Kingdom in preserving the health and safety of Indian workers during COVID-19, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.
The meeting also discussed the historical friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of India, and means to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation between them in a way that serves common interests.
The meeting was held in the presence of Cabinet Affairs Ministry Undersecretary HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, MoFA Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, MoFA Undersecretary, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of India, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al-Qaoud and MoFA Director of Afro-Asian Affairs Directorate, Ambassador Muna Abbas Mahmood Radhi. On the Indian side, it was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Piyush Srivastava and the delegation accompanying the Minister.
