Foreign Minister praises Bahraini NGOs’ success in obtaining ‘Consultative Status with ECOSOC’

(BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, today received the Director of Tafawuq Consulting Centre for Development, Maryam Al-Rowaie, the Chairman of Bahrain Jurists Society (BJS), Dr. Abduljabbar Al-Tayeb, the President of Bahrain Public Relations Associations (BPRA), Dr. Fahad Al-Shehabi, on the occasion of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)’s approval of the recommendation issued by the UN NGOs’ Committee on May 21, 2021, on granting their organisations the “Consultative Status”.

The Foreign Minister extended his congratulations to the Director of Tafawuq Consulting Centre for Development, BJS Chairman and to BPRA President for gaining UN confidence in their organisations, and their high efficiency to carry out the many political and diplomatic tasks and responsibilities required by the work of this international organisation and its affiliated offices at various levels.

The Minister expressed his great appreciation for the prominent role played by civil society organisations in promoting the comprehensive development process in the Kingdom, and their efforts to serve the Bahraini community and their many achievements at the international level.

He also expressed the Foreign Ministry’s pride in the presence of Bahraini civil society organisations and their active contributions to the international work carried out by the United Nations, stressing the Ministry’s readiness to provide all forms of support and assistance to their efforts at the global level to promote the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the international arena, wishing them further success.

Director of Tafawuq Consulting Centre for Development, BJS Chairman and BPRA President expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for this kind gesture, which reflects the interest of the wise leadership and the government in the success and distinction achieved by Bahraini civil society organisations, and the support they enjoy to carry out their national responsibilities at home and abroad, stressing their keenness to continue working to serve the local community and highlighting the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the international level.

The meeting was also attended by the Chief of the Human Rights Sector, Ambassador Dr. Arwa Al-Sayed, and the Acting Chief of the Organizations Sector, Ambassador Shaikha Aysha bint Ahmed Al Khalifa.
