GCC marks 37th anniversary

Riyadh, May 24 (BNA): The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) marks the 37th anniversary of its establishment.

GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani extended congratulations to the Arabian Gulf leaders and citizens on this occasion which coincides with the advent of the Holy month of Ramadan.

He hailed outstanding achievements ever since the GCC was first established in 1981, describing the council as a model of cooperation and complementary relations.

Dr. Alzayani commended the GCC political, economic, defence, security and social achievements, which enabled member countries to consolidate their regional and international standing and play a key role in maintaining security and stability in the region.

He paid tribute to the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and the Saudi people.

He hailed the pivotal role of the Saudi leadership in backing the GCC General Secretariat to achieve the collective goals and implement the resolutions of the supreme council.
