Manama: Government strategic projects and procurement requests valued at approximately BD9.9 million were discussed at the 37th Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC) meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed.
Through video conference Al Qaed and committee representatives of other governmental entities reviewed the most important procurement requests, including a unified platform for digital municipality services at the Ministry of Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning; necessary development and support services for the Ministry of Health’s National Health Information System (i-SEHA); the development of iGA’s eServices across all channels; and support and development of educational systems at Polytechnic Bahrain.
The committee said that the technical requirements under study will contribute to raising the quality and efficiency of services, leading to an increase in productivity and a reduction in government expenses.
Al Qaed praised the efforts of the committee’s members and the continuous coordination among government entities, emphasizing the importance of the ongoing communication in the development of the IT sector and the elevation of government performance and the service offered to the public.
The committee continues to hold monthly meetings remotely via Microsoft Teams. Such online platforms have efficiently supported business continuity in the government sector, while reducing costs, saving time, and facilitating the sharing of documents between agencies.
