Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri welcomed on Wednesday at the Center House the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, in the presence of his advisor for Russian Affairs Georges Chaaban.
After the meeting, the Russian Ambassador said: "We discussed with Prime Minister Hariri global and regional issues as well as the bilateral relations between the two countries. I assured Prime Minister Hariri of Russia's support for his efforts to form a national unity government in cooperation with President Michel Aoun. We also discussed the issue of cooperation for the return of the displaced. Prime Minister Hariri informed me that Lebanon appointed the Lebanese members of the joint Russian-Lebanese committee and on this basis we will continue joint action."
On the other hand, Hariri also received the Higher Islamic Council, headed by its Vice President, former Minister Omar Meskawi, who said after the meeting: "We expressed our support for Prime Minister Hariri's stances, which are based on the balance of the state and the citizens, especially in the issue of forming the government. Our support expresses the popular and political mood especially from the politicians of all sects who love the country."
