His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa visited the General Directorate of Civil Defence on Wednesday. He was received by the Chief of Public Security Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan and the Director-General of Civil Defence.
At the beginning of the visit, HE Interior Minister expressed thanks and appreciation to the civil defence personnel, officers, commission officers and other ranks for their professionalism in protecting lives and property.
He hailed the interest and care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to develop all security sectors and provide the required backup services.
He highlighted that forming a committee to list hazardous substances, storing sites, and inspection mechanisms. Also, evaluating the concerning precautionary measures was part of the Cabinet's directives. He valued the committee's outcomes, adding that the national efforts of the panel reflect competency and the importance to continue work to control the risks of such substances. He said that the work of the committee was a foundation for an action plan.
HE Interior Minister expressed appreciation to concerned authorities associated with examining and inspecting several establishments to evaluate their commitment to precautionary steps in storing hazardous substances. He directed to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations of the panel.
He expressed appreciation for the civil defence role in promoting precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19, through disinfecting government buildings, roads, and other areas, associating volunteers in such tasks and holding training courses on the correct disinfection methods.
HE Interior Minister said that the law on volunteering to serve public security is a successful experience and requires training courses. It comes out of loyalty to the nation and reinforcement of social responsibility. He hailed the cooperation of citizens and residents with police personnel in carrying their security protection duties. He wished them further success in serving the nation.
