Manama: The Health Insurance Fund (SHIFA) held its regular board meeting, chaired by Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa.
The virtual session was attended by Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan and Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) Governor Rasheed Mohammed Al-Maraj.
Also present were lawyer Farid Ghazi, Jassim Hassan Abdula’al, Finance and National Economy Ministry Undersecretary Hamad Faisal Al-Malki, Ibrahim Al-Nawakhda and other officials.
Lt.Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa, also Head of the National Taskforce for Combating COVID-19, updated the panel about the health situation in Bahrain and efforts to contain the pandemic.
He underlined continued efforts to develop the health system to cover all the population in accordance with the best global standards, especially in light of the challenges due to current national global developments.
He delivered a detailed explanation of the administrative and financial regulations for the self-management project for health institutions, on the basis of which they will be implemented by health service providers
The regulations have been drawn up by the project team, while two laws have been approved by the self-management boards of health centers and government hospitals.
The Supreme Council for Health (SCH) has approved the regulations and laws, which are now being reviewed bu the Ministry of Finance and National Economy and the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) to ensure their compliance with the Government’s procedures and the provisions of the law on social insurance.

the executive management of the Health Insurance Fund (SHIFA), stressing the importance of moving forward in the work to form the nucleus of the fund so that it can put in place the operational regulations.
Lieutenant-Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa shed light on the establishment of the National Centre for Health Information and Knowledge Management (HEKMA).
Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari delivered a presentation, updating the panel on the public hospitals self-management project. Zohra Badr gave an update about the Media and Awareness Committee.
