Health Minister inaugurates mental health exhibition

Manama, Health Minister, Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, has stressed the importance of mental health and the need to spread awareness about its aspects by carrying on concerted social efforts to raise the level of mental health services as an essential pillar of achieving the concept of comprehensive health.

The minister was speaking while inaugurating the “Be Assured” exhibition, organised by the Psychiatric Hospital under the slogan “Mental health and well-being are a global priority for all” at the Avenues Bahrain, on November 3-4, in the presence of a number of officials.

The exhibition featured awareness-raising activities and a video presentation highlighting the most important achievements of the Psychiatric Hospital.

The Minister of Health also launched initiatives to develop research, in which a number of national competencies participated, both internally and externally.

She asserted that the Ministry of Health has attached great importance to the mental health sector by supporting all programmes and initiatives related to promoting mental health and consolidating it within the priorities of strategic plans, with an interest in training health cadres to provide all specialties and ensure access to competitive psychological services of high quality and approved international standards.
