Health Minister receives GCC delegation

Manama, Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh received a delegation led by GCC Health Council director-general Suleiman Al-Dakhil, who outlined projects being implemented in cooperation with member states.

Health Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, member of the GCC Executive Commission Dr. Mariam Al-Hajeri attended the meeting which focused on the 2020 plans.

The minister commended the role and efforts exerted last year in the GCC member states, stressing the importance of joint coordination to enhance the standard of health services benefiting citizens.

GCC Health Council director-general Suleiman Al-Dakhil shed light on the 2020 programmes and projects which aim to promote prevention and enhance health support and services, including immigrant screening programs, visitor screening, and the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention.

The meeting also focused on safety programmes, children's awareness programmes, electronic application, stressing the importance of bolstering training programmes, holding scientific conferences and developing health and research cadres, as well as the health support, unified procurement, central registration and the information centre.

The minister proposed the inclusions of a number of key topics in the 2020 programmes and projects, such as engaging the role of nursing in the GCC programmes and celebrating the year of nursing this year under the slogan "Nurse and Midwife", which will be the focus of celebration on this World Health Day Year.
