Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today ratified and issued law 11/2020 on volunteering to serve public security, after it had been by the Shura and Representatives councils.
The law stipulates that the Interior Ministry may accept volunteers to serve public security. Volunteers will support the public security forces in assuming their duties and responsibilities of safeguarding security and stability, as well as protecting lives, property and the nation’s achievements.
Bahrainis, or residents, according to certain conditions determined by the Interior Minister, who are at least 21 years old may be allowed to volunteer for public security service.
A “Volunteer Affairs Committee” shall be established at the Interior Ministry to be in charge of all public service volunteering procedures.
The Interior Minister shall issue the necessary edicts to implement the provisions of this law.
The Prime Minister and ministers, each in their capacity, shall implement this law, which takes effect one day after its publication in the official gazette.
