Iconic American singer to perform at Spring of Culture festival

Manama, Grammy Award winner and celebrated American singer Lauryn Hill will bring her iconic music to Bahrain at the upcoming 15th edition of the Spring of Culture festival.

The concert will take place at Bahrain Bay on February 28 at 8:30 pm.

Lauryn Hill took the world by storm with hip-hop trio Fugees in the nineties, with hit singles 'Killing Me Softly' & 'Ready or Not' from their album The Score released in 1996, peaking at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200.

The Fugees were one of the highest-selling rap groups, earning two Grammy awards: Best Rap Album and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group.

Hill's first solo effort was in 1998 entitled, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Ms. Hill earned nominations for 10 Grammy Awards, winning five including Best New Artist and Album of the Year.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill established the artist as a major talent, selling more than 12 million copies. Some of the album's best-known songs include 'Doo Wop', 'Ex-Factor', and 'Everything is Everything'.

Hill's sound was often categorised as neo-soul, bridging hip-hop and mainstream popular music. After a break from music for motherhood, Hill is back on the stage celebrating the extended 20th anniversary of her hit album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

Now in its 15th year, the Spring of Culture festival has a line-up of activities, events and workshop catered to everyone in Bahrain, including art exhibitions, musical concerts, workshops, lectures, and other cultural activities.
