Baghdad, The Permanent Representative of Iraq in Geneva, Ambassador Muayed Saleh, stressed that the extraordinary circumstances of the Iraqi health institutions, many of which have been destroyed as a result of the war against Daesh terrorist gangs waged by Iraq on behalf of the world.
"The Permanent Representative of Iraq in Geneva met with the new Regional Director of the World Health Organization for the Middle East (EMRO) Dr. Ahmed Salim Saif Al-Mundheri in his temporary office at the UN headquarters," a Foreign Ministry statement said.
The two sides discussed the historical relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Sultanate of Oman and the common bonds between the two brotherly peoples.
The Permanent Representative of Iraq stressed during the meeting "the exceptional circumstances experienced by the Iraqi health institutions, many of which have been destroyed as a result of the war against Daesh terrorist gangs that Iraq has fought on behalf of the world and Iraq's need for exceptional support by WHO and its Regional Rehabilitation Office and how to activate the office of the World Health Organization in Baghdad to be more effective in supporting Iraqi health institutions. "
For his part, the regional director of the organization, Dr. Ahmed Salem al-Mundheri, promised that he will support efforts in dealing with Iraq and coordination with health leaders in order to reach a way to make the interaction between the organization and the more effective Iraqi health authorities. "
