Iraqi, Syrian And Iranian Army Chiefs Hold Tripartite Meeting In Damascus On Fighting Terrorism

BAGHDAD The chiefs of staff of the Iraqi, Syrian and Iranian army are holding a tripartite meeting in Damascus to fight terrorism.

"The head of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, headed the military delegation on Sunday morning to the Syrian capital Damascus to participate in the tripartite meeting to combat terrorism," Fars News Agency reported.

The meeting includes, beside Iranian official, both Syrian and Iraqi chiefs of staff to discuss ways to combat terrorist operations.

The visit of Major General Baqeri also aims to develop military defense cooperation and hold consultations on combating terrorism and coordination between Iran, Iraq and Syria in continuing to fight terrorist groups as well as follow up and touch on the latest mechanisms to establish stability and security in the region.

Major General Baqeri's visit also includes an inspection tour of the Iranian military advisers in Syria.
