Iraq’s Permanent Representative to the UN briefed the members of the Security Council on the formation of the new government

BAGHDAD, Permanent Representative at the United Nations Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr al-Ulum briefed the members of the Security Council on the formation of the new government.

" Bahr al-Ulum delivered Iraq's speech at the Security Council during the open meeting to discuss the Secretary-General's report on UNAMI," a Foreign Ministry statement said.

"The Permanent Representative thanked in the name of the government to Yan Kubic for his efforts during the past challenging years in the leadership of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and congratulated his successor, Jeanine Blachkert," the statement said.

The Ambassador also briefed the members of the Security Council on the formation of the new government, which adopted a comprehensive ministerial platform based on social, economic and security considerations and priorities that will serve all citizens. It will seek to consolidate national identity, promote community participation and protect human rights to achieve security, stability and social peace, strategic partnerships with the international and regional environment on the basis of common interests to strengthen Iraq's status in the international community. "
