Baghdad, The Japanese government welcomed the formation of the new government in Iraq.
"We appreciate the efforts of the various political parties inside Iraq so far," the Japanese embassy in Iraq quoted Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono as saying in a statement, added "The Japanese government also hopes to hold vacant ministerial posts as soon as possible."
"The new Iraqi government and its people will overcome religious and ethnic differences and work together to stabilize the security situation and economic reconstruction," he said.
"The Japanese government intends to cooperate with the new Iraqi government in order to strengthen bilateral relations and face various challenges in the Middle East," he said.
The House of Representatives voted to give confidence to Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi and 14 ministers from the list presented by him in a session held on Wednesday and saw the postponement of the selection of eight other ministers because of objections to their nomination.
