BAGHDAD, A member of the House of Representatives for the province of Salah al-Din, Qutaiba Ibrahim Jubouri described signing of the trade agreement between Iraq and Jordan as the most important achievements in the foreign policy of the current government.
He called on the government to "expedite the implementation of its terms on the ground and to make it a platform for strengthening relations with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples and contribute to the return of Iraq to the Arab."
He said,"We hope that the Iraqi government will implement the provisions of this agreement on the ground and benefit from it to strengthen the Iraqi economy and revitalize the Iraqi market," describing the agreement as "the most important achievement of the current government and a smart and deliberate step at the level of foreign policy."
The new agreement, which was signed by Iraq and Jordan, came into effect officially, where Iraq resumed last week the export of land to Jordan through the border port of Trebil, with Jordanian trucks entering Iraqi territory directly without customs fees.
