Kanaan from Bkirki on eve of Washington visit: Lebanon is not bankrupt as long as will to reform exists

Head of the Finance and Budget Committee, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, visited this Friday Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi on the eve of his visit to Washington to meet with US officials and answer the World Bank's invitation to participate in a financial and economic conference.

"We stressed at this meeting on fundamental principles; first, that Lebanon is not bankrupt and has all the capabilities to address the financial and economic situation but needs a sincere political will," Kanaan said.

"Our destiny has become dependent on our public finances," he warned however, stressing that "the political administration must change its curriculum, and we politicians have to shoulder our responsibilities."

"I have sensed Bkirki's support to the reform and monitoring process underway. I would like to reiterate on this occasion (...) the confidence that Lebanon will prevail in the end, because its message is a message of freedom in the region," the MP concluded.
