Maliki Meets Rouhani, Calls For More Cooperation And Coordination Between Iraq And Iran

BAGHDAD, The head of the state of law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki discussed today with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, who is currently visiting Iraq, the future of bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in the interest of the two neighboring countries, and discussed the regional situation and challenges facing the region.

Maliki, during the meeting, according to a statement of his media office, pointed to the possibility that Iraq and Iran play an important role in support and stability in the region, calling for more cooperation and coordination between the two sides at various levels, especially in the areas of politics and economy.

Maliki hailed the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting Iraq during its war against terrorism.

Rouhani stressed his country's readiness to develop its relations with Iraq in all fields, pointing out that the stability and security of Iraq is of great importance to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
