Masum and al-Amiri stress the importance of convening the first session of parliament on the constitutional date

Baghdad, The President of the Republic Fuad Masum and Secretary General of the Badr Organization Hadi al-Amiri stressed the importance of convening the first meeting of parliament on the constitutional date.

According to a statement to the Presidency of the Republic said that "Fuad Masum met al-Amiri on Saturday evening to discuss the results of efforts aimed at forming the largest parliamentary bloc in preparation for the call of the new Council of Representatives to convene to carry out its legislative and oversight functions.

The two sides stressed during the meeting on the need to heal the first session of the House of Representatives fourth session on the constitutional date specified to be able to move to the implementation of a series of steps constitutional procedures that should culminate in the commissioning of the parliamentary bloc the largest task of forming the new Iraqi government within the legal period.

"The two sides discussed during the meeting the most important political and security developments, as well as ways to ensure the will of the voters and the general public of the political, economic, administrative and service reforms," the statement said.

Masum had discussed the efforts to form the largest bloc with his Vice-President Nuri al-Maliki in a meeting today, and with Prime Minister Haider Abadi yesterday evening.
