National Heritage Festival 2022 opened

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa delegated Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa to open the 28th Bahrain Heritage Festival, being held under the theme “Our Golden Heritage”.

HH the Deputy Prime Minister expressed pride at opening, on behalf of HM the King, the festival, and stressed royal interest in this national cultural event which was first launched in 1992.

He stressed the importance of the festival in revitalising the cultural scene and showcasing Bahrain’s rich heritage, civilization an openness to different cultures.

“The festival’s comeback represents a qualitative addition to the cultural scene in Bahrain and a support for cultural development”, he said, stressing the importance of this vital national event that aims to preserve the cultural and national identity through its various programs that highlight Bahraini heritage and helps pass it down generations.

He praised the dedicated efforts made by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa to organise the festival and shed light on the Kingdom’s golden heritage.

The opening ceremony was also attended by BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa and Muharraq Governor Salman bin Isa bin Hindi Al Mannai, in addition to highlevel diplomats, cultural stakeholders and the media.

BACA President Shaikha Mai expressed deepest thanks and gratitude to HM the King for patronizing the National Heritage Festival 2022, noting royal directives in support of BACA-led efforts to conserve Bahraini Arab identity.

She also thanked deputy patron HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa for his presence and support to cultural events in Bahrain.

“Preserving the Bahraini heritage, with its tangible and intangible components, is a national responsibility that we strive to advance and spread awareness of its importance and its ability to shape civilizational features in our country, Bahrain”, she said.
