Northern Governor visits community centres

Based on the directives of Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, to determine the security, service and health needs of ma’atams (community centres), Northern Governor, Ali Abdulhussain Al-Asfoor, continued his inspection visits to community centres during the Ashura Commemoration.

In this regard, Al-Asfoor, accompanied by Deputy Governor, Brigadier Khalid Rabia Sinan, Chairman of Ashura Committee at the Northern Governorate, Al-Sayed Shareef Abdulla, and other officials visited the North Sehla, Jannusan, Jid Al-Haj and the southern Karrana community centres.

The governor commended the efforts of community centres’ managements and sub-committees to ensure the distinguished organisation of Ashura rituals, praising their cooperation and coordination with security and service authorities to ensure the success of Ashura Commemoration.

The governor indicated that in light of the high temperatures, the Northern Governorate had provided a number of volunteer paramedics with the support of a medical team for emergency cases during the mourning processions, and distributed 45,000 water bottles, in cooperation with the Taj Medical Centre.

He also stressed the need to ensure the safety of food at community centres during the Ashura Commemoration.

He also called on community centres’ managements to register in the pilot programme, “Choose Your Doctor”, in coordination with the Supreme Council for Health.

Heads of community centres expressed thanks and appreciation to the Northern Governor and his deputy for their visit, wishing them many happy returns of the religious occasion.
