Baghdad The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshlands affirmed that the amount of rain that fell on the cities of the country heralds an abundant agricultural season, despite the damage it caused in some areas.”
The head of the committee, Salam Al-Shammari, said in a statement that the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) received a copy of it, said that the committee is with what the Ministry of Water Resources submitted some time ago about its future plans to complete previously announced dams and build large water tanks.”
He added that the construction of reservoirs in particular does not cost much money, and local investment companies can do it in areas of a desert nature or near the border with Iran, to take advantage of the flood waters that annually cause losses to the nearby villages.”
Al-Shammari stressed the importance of continuing to open communication channels with Iran and Turkey to ensure our share of water and to increase the strategic reserve and to benefit from it for years to come for daily use, agriculture and reclamation of more lands.
