"Strong Lebanon" parliamentary bloc MP, caretaker Minister, Gebran Bassil, said on Monday that the bloc has asked of Prime Minister-designate, Saad Hariri, to form a national unity government, which includes the largest number possible blocs and political forces.
Speaking following a meeting between the bloc members and Hariri, Bassil said that his bloc had also called for the representation of the Alawite and Syriac communities in the new cabinet.
He added that he had called for the distribution of sovereign portfolios among small religious communities, refusing to strictly entrust portfolios to specific denominations or political forces.
"Our bloc has been forbidden both the Ministries of Finance and Interior since 2015; we enjoy the full right to assume one of these ministries," Bassil added.
He finally noted that the ministerial declaration must accord utmost priority to the Syrian refugee file, as well as the country's economic situation, including the serious fight against corruption, reforms, in addition to administrative decentralization.
