President Meets The Russian Ambassador To Baghdad

Baghdad  President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed the need to reduce tensions in the region and continue the war on terrorism.

A presidential statement received by the National Iraqi News Agency a copy of it stated: “President Barham Salih met today with the Russian ambassador to Iraq, Maxim Maximov, and during the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand the horizons of cooperation and joint action in a way that serves the mutual interests of the two countries. The latest developments on the regional and international arenas were also reviewed, where the commitment of dialogue to strengthen regional security and peace was emphasized.

The President of the Republic stressed the need for concerted regional and international efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, reduce tensions that negatively affect the opportunities for development and prosperity for the peoples of the region, and coordinate and work together, and for Iraq to be a hub in promoting security and stability.

For his part, the Russian ambassador renewed his country’s support for Iraq and the desire to strengthen ties in all fields and expand economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
