BAGHDAD, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasimi confirmed that "Iraq is not a place for Trump to watch Iran."
"Iraq is not the place where Trump and his forces can control Iran," Qasimi said.
"The Americans should not have entered Iraq from ," Qasimi said, noting that "the entry of US forces into Iraq is illegal and staying there remains a strategic error."
US President Donald Trump told CBS News that part of the troops he would withdraw from Syria would stay in Iraq to watch Iran, which he described as a "evil state" a problem for the region, he said.
For his part, President Barham Saleh said that Trump did not ask him to approve the staying of US forces to monitor Iran.
