Information Minister, Melhem Riachi, underlined on Sunday the important role of official media.
Minister Riachi's words came in an interview with Radio Lebanon, where he announced that a new structure for the Ministry of Information is in the offing, ushering in a new future.
He said the official Radio Station and Tele-Liban are considering a partnership with the private sector.
The Minister hailed the significant achievements and performance of the National News Agency and Radio Liban, saying both official media institutions stand equidistant from all parties.
Regarding the electoral process, Riachi said that voters have their own wishes and aspirations, noting that they are the ones who decide their choices.
In response to a question about compliance with Article 78 of the Elections Law and violations committed in this regard by certain politicians, the Minister said that law violators bear the responsibility in this case.
According to the Minister, the responsibility for these violations should not be attributed to the media.
He added that Judge Nadim Abdel Malak will have the final word in this case, noting that he will comment on the issue following the release of relevant decisions.
"We have full confidence in the work of the Election Oversight Committee," Riachi concluded.
