Baghdad Member of Parliament for the Saeroun Coalition, Riyadh Al-Masoudi, said: What is paid to foreign workers is enough to build 5,000 schools across the country.
Al-Masoudi said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that there are many financial pockets in the country that are still not invested in light of Iraq’s reliance on the high import approach without activating what is in it.”
He added, “Iraq imports various goods and products, with a value of 40 to 45 billion dollars annually, in addition to the presence of foreign workers and the payment of money to them up to 3.5 billion dollars, which is sufficient to build 5,000 schools.”
He explained that building successive budgets is still weak and lacks sound economic plans by encouraging internal and external investment, which has affected the country’s revenues and made them one resource.”
The House of Representatives had raised its session yesterday to a date to be determined later after it finished the second reading of the current year’s budget, with the Parliamentary Finance Committee continuing its meetings to discuss the draft budget.
