Speaker hails Bahrain’s contributions to human fraternity in the world

Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain will tomorrow, Saturday, mark the International Day of Human Fraternity, annually observed in the world on February 4.

The International Day of Human Fraternity was established by The United Nations General Assembly on a way to promote greater cultural and religious tolerance, through a resolution, which was co-facilitated by the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

In a statement on this occasion, Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam said that Bahrain, led by His Majesty Kingdom of Bahrain, has played an active role in supporting the values and principles of human fraternity in the world.

He highlighted the role of the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in initiating humanitarian programmes and supporting international efforts to achieve desired goals for humanity, through cooperation, peace, fraternity and tolerance.

He highlighted Bahrain’s initiatives to promoting human fraternity in the world, citing the Isa Award for Service to Humanity, the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, the launch of the Bahrain Declaration, the King Hamad Chair in Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence, the King Hamad Faith in Leadership fellowship program and King Hamad Global Award for Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence.

The Speaker also cited the historic visit of the Grand Imam Sheikh of Al Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders His Eminence Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb and His Holiness Pope Francis to attend the “Bahrain Forum: East West Dialogue which contributed to supporting Bahrain’s standing.
