Speaker receives NAO annual report

Speaker of the Representatives Council, Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, has commended the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to protect public money and promote the principles of the state of law and institutions. She stressed keenness of the legislative branch to exercise its legislative and legal competencies in accordance with the constitution and law as well as the national interest. She also asserted keenness to deal with the report of the National Audit Office (NAO) with utter professionalism, transparency and national responsibility.

The Representatives Council Speaker was speaking during a meeting today with NAO President, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who submitted to her the NAO’s 18th annual report for the professional year 2020-2021.

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Speaker Abdulnabi Salman, Second Deputy Speaker Ali Zayed and Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee Ahmed Sabah Al Saloum.

The Representatives Council Speaker commended keenness of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to develop the governmental work approach according to the principles of transparency and institutional monitoring. She also praised the pivotal role of NAO in promoting integrity and transparency and protecting public money.
