Speaker receives Social Development Minister

Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has asserted that strengthening social protection and raising the quality of its services are basic pillars of national action, and enjoy the interest of the legislative and executive branches, in line with the objectives of the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Speaker Fawzia Zainal valued highly the role played by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in implementing programmes aimed at enhancing social and economic empowerment for individuals and families with limited income, citing the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Social Development to raise the quality of services provided, in order to achieve the desired goals that serve the country and citizens.

Zainal made the statements while receiving here today Social Development Minister, Osama bin Ahmed Al-Asfoor, whom she congratulated on his appointment by HM the King to his post and wished every success in carrying out his duties.

During the meeting, she highlighted the importance of enhancing social, rehabilitation and professional integration services for people with disabilities stressing the need to provide educational institutions for them, especially those related to higher education.

She also underlined the importance of implementing the national vision that aims to build and develop their abilities and skills, as well as develop social integration and care services for senior citizens.

The minister expressed sincere thanks to the Representatives Council Speaker for the meeting, noting that the services sector in the kingdom enjoys the direct interest of HM the King, and is among the priorities of the government, led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He affirmed that thanks to the leadership’s unlimited support, the Social Development Ministry is resolved to implement more projects aimed at improving its services.
