Speaker, Serbian counterpart discuss establishing parliamentary friendship committee

Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the friendly Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, have discussed the establishment of a parliamentary friendship committee between the two countries, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on enhancing the Bahraini-Serbian relations and cooperation.

She lauded the existing solid relations between the two friendly countries, which are based on mutual respect, and consultations on vital issues, especially in the fields of economy, investment, agriculture and natural resources.

She highlighted the importance of exchanged visits between the leaderships of the two countries in broadening bilateral cooperation, expressing pride in HM the King’s firm approach based on deepening friendship relations with all countries, as well as in the tremendous efforts exerted by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to build strong and fruitful relations between the kingdom and various countries.

During her talks with her Serbian counterpart on the sidelines of 143rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held in Madrid, Speaker Fawzia Zainal stressed her keenness to develop a joint work mechanism to pave the way for exchanging legislative expertise and unifying stances vis-à-vis issues discussed at international parliamentary gatherings.

Zainal highlighted the visit of HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to Serbia last April, adding that she is looking forward to intensifying efforts in order to enhance the diplomatic relations between the two countries, towards more constructive joint cooperation.

Serbia’s National Assembly Speaker expressed pride in the distinguished relations between the two countries, noting that the historic visit of the Serbian President to Bahrain last March laid the foundations for building bilateral partnerships that would achieve the interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.
