Manama: Speaker of the Representatives Council Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, the Head of the Parliamentary Delegation Executive Committee, and Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh will participate in the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (5WCSP) which will be held remotely tomorrow and continue till Thursday.
The conference will be organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in cooperation with the United Nations Office in Austria and the Austrian parliament. It will be held under the overarching theme “Parliamentary Leadership for More Effective Multilateralism that Delivers Peace and Sustainable Development for the People and Planet.”
The participation of the Shura and Representatives Councils Chairpersons in the conference is an assertion of keenness of the legislative branch in the Kingdom of Bahrain to take part in parliamentary gatherings, exchange views on common issues and highlight the kingdom’s achievements in various fields.
The Representatives Council Speaker will present tomorrow Wednesday, in a virtual meeting, a work paper on the increase in the youth’s participation in politics and parliaments. She participated today in a virtual dialogue session of female parliament speakers on putting an end to discrimination, harassment and violence against women at parliaments and in all fields of life. The session was held by IPU as part of the 13th summit of the female parliament Speakers, organised in Austria.
